I’m not a perfect person, and I’m not going to pretend I’ve always handled things the right way. I’ve made mistakes, said things I shouldn’t have, and reacted in ways I’m not proud of. But I am trying to learn from my past, grow closer to God, and make better choices moving forward.
I can take responsibility for who I’ve been without staying that person forever. I can’t change the past, but I can let the lessons change how I live today. Growth is something I have to practice through my actions, even when it’s hard.
For me, part of that growth is learning to be the bigger person in difficult situations. Sometimes that means listening, apologizing, or having an honest conversation. Other times, it means choosing not to argue or have the last word.
I’m learning to give God the things I keep replaying in my mind—the hurt, the frustration, and the desire to make everyone understand me. I can be honest with Him about how I feel while asking Him to help me respond with kindness and self-control.
Leaving the past in the past doesn’t mean pretending it never happened or expecting others to forget. It means taking the lessons and responsibility with me while choosing to stop repeating the same mistakes. And as I ask for grace while I grow, I want to extend that same grace to others.
I’m still a work in progress. But I want my everyday choices to reflect the person I’m praying to become.
God, help me own what I need to change, release what I cannot control, and trust You with what comes next. Give me the humility to keep learning and the strength to live differently. 🤍
